What happened. Bayer Leverkusen appointed Edmond Tapsoba as new club captain ahead of the 2026/27 season, replacing Robert Andrich, with Patrik Schick as vice-captain.

New head coach Carles Martínez made the decision this week.
Tapsoba joined Leverkusen in 2020 and has 270 appearances.
He won the unbeaten Bundesliga title and DFB Cup in 2023/24.
