Martin Tyler, 80, plays first seconds for boyhood club Woking

The legendary commentator kicked off a pre-season match to mark a training centre renamed in his honour.

What happened. Martin Tyler, 80, played the first few seconds of a pre-season match for Woking Academy against Corinthian Casuals to celebrate the renaming of the training facility as the Martin Tyler Performance Centre.

• Tyler is a lifelong Woking fan since age eight in 1953.
• He has played for, against, and coached the club.
• The kick-off was pre-planned; he was substituted immediately.
