What happened. Walter Zenga condemned the vandalism of Franco Baresi's mural outside Casa Milan, where red paint was sprayed across Baresi's face, the shirt sponsor, the artist's signature and the words 'You'll never walk alone'. Milan have acted quickly and hope CCTV will help identify those responsible.
- The mural by Lucas.streetart was created after Baresi's death on 31 July at age 66.
- Zenga said the act offends Italian football history and everyone who values respect.
- The image was first circulated by Milan city councillor Alessandro Giungi.
“Franco Baresi was an opponent, a team-mate for the national side, a captain and above all a man who gave dignity to Italian football.”
— Walter Zenga
Milan are reviewing CCTV footage as the incident adds to wider soul-searching about conduct in Italian stadiums.
