McTominay back in Naples gym after heart procedure

Napoli's midfielder is back on home turf and working indoors as he plots a return from a minor heart fix.

What happened. Napoli confirmed Scott McTominay is back with the club and began individualised gym work in Naples on Thursday after a minor heart procedure. He had the procedure in Manchester on September 8 to fix a mild, benign arrhythmia and has missed Napoli's last four matches across all competitions.

• The procedure was done in September to limit matches missed during an extra-long international break.
• Napoli said he would need a rest period of around two weeks.
• He is targeting Napoli's home Serie A game against Frosinone on October 10.

McTominay will aim to be fit for Frosinone on October 10, with a Champions League trip to Villarreal following on October 13.
