Arsenal reward teen defender Salmon with first pro deal

What happened. Arsenal have handed a professional contract to teenage defender Marli Salmon after his pre-season performances impressed Mikel Arteta.

• Salmon joined Arsenal at U11 level and converted from forward to defender.
• He made his debut in a European clash at Club Brugge, coming on for Ben White.
• He featured in the pre-season draw with Como, which Arsenal won on penalties.
