Maracanã to host opening and final of Women's World Cup

Rio's iconic Maracanã will stage both the opening match and the final of next year's Women's World Cup.

What happened. FIFA released the schedule for the 2025 Women's World Cup, with the Maracanã hosting the opening game and the final.

• The Maracanã previously hosted men's World Cup finals in 1950 and 2014.
• São Paulo's Arena Itaquera will host 10 matches.
• The tournament features 32 teams and 64 matches.

The draw will take place later this year after more playoff matches are completed.
